These terms apply to the Highlight browser extension, website, public MCP connection, AI-highlighting service, and live-link service (together, “Highlight”). By using a hosted Highlight feature, you agree to these terms and the Privacy Policy.
Highlight helps you mark, organise, analyse, export, and share passages from web pages and PDFs. Optional agent and AI features can act only on content available to the connected browser extension or content you deliberately send to the service. Features may change, be interrupted, or be discontinued.
You keep any rights you have in highlights, notes, drawings, and other content you create. You give Highlight permission to process and, when you request a live link, host that content only as needed to provide the feature. You are responsible for having the right to process and share the material you submit, for checking AI- or agent-generated results, and for deciding what to publish.
Do not use Highlight to violate law, privacy, confidentiality, intellectual-property rights, access controls, or another person's rights. Do not interfere with the service, distribute malware, automate abusive traffic, or attempt to gain unauthorized access to another browser connection or live link.
Highlight is not designed as a secure repository for confidential, regulated, or highly sensitive information. Public or unlisted live links can be forwarded, and third-party AI providers may process content when you explicitly use AI features. Review the Privacy Policy before using network features.
Highlight relies on services supplied by Google Chrome, Cloudflare, GitHub, Google Gemini, and—in an agent connection—your chosen MCP client such as ChatGPT. Their terms and privacy practices also apply to their services. Highlight is not responsible for third-party availability or conduct.
The hosted service may limit or block abusive, insecure, or unlawful use. You can stop using it at any time, disconnect the agent bridge, delete local extension data, and revoke managed live links before their expiry.
Highlight is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of accuracy, availability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. To the fullest extent permitted by law, the project maintainers are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or lost-data damages arising from use of Highlight. Nothing here excludes rights or liability that cannot legally be excluded.
The source code is available under the MIT License. That license governs use of the source code; these terms govern use of the hosted Highlight services.
